demetrios nikolianos

 

Demetrios Nikolianos was born in Xilokastro, where he has finished High School.


He attended classes of Graphic design in “Vacalo” Art School with professors Helen Vacalo in History of Art, George Vacalo in Scenography, Panagiotis Tetsis and John Valavanidis in freehand design.


He received a degree from the technology center of technological applications and then attended graphic design in Deutsche Hoöehere Lehranstalt Fur Graphik und Werbung.


Worked as a graphic designer with magazines anti, politis, chronos (time). He studied Palaiologean and post-byzantine painting.

 

Since 1985 to 1987 he taught drawing and color in Technological Educational Institute of Athens.

 

Has presented his work at the library in patras, eikastikos horos, in the gallery evmaros.

 

From his participation at the exhibitions are referred the most important:

  • permanent exhibition of Byzantine and Christian Museum
  • technopolis, the human figure in Art, Political cartoonist exhibition
  • gallerie nationale grand palais champs elysees paris (de byzance a istanbul un port deux continents, sakip cabanci instabul: from byzantion to istanbul, 8.000 years of a capital).
  • allard pierson museum amsterdam, "crossroads" exhibition (15th of september 2017 to 11th february 2018)

 

From 1989 to 2013 he worked at the Greek Ministry of Culture. Between 1989 to 1991 he worked with the archaeologist Dr. G. Papathanassopoulos at the archaeological excavation of neolithic settlement of Alepotripa Diros.


During this, and until 1996, he was also involved with copying icons at Archaeological Resources Fund.


From 1996 to 2013 he worked at the Byzantine and Christian Museum as painter where he studied precious parchment manuscripts of the museum’s collection for exhibition use.


Those facsimiles are included in international participations of the Byzantine Museum.
